September 2009

Commander's Comments -

Clean up, fix up, paint up projects need more volunteers!  We’re getting there, but you could make the Post a place to be proud of by helping.

A huge “Thank You” to John Noonan and Terry Sisson for the scrub down of the ceiling and fans in the club room!

Even if you can not help with the projects, kindly attend the Post meetings.

Your participation is appreciated, and your input is welcome.

Bill Steinauer, Commander

1ST Vice Commander's Report

We are now into September and many of you still have not sent in your dues.  You need to remember, this is what helps support this Post. It helps with are Veterans Programs as well as just keeping us afloat.

The Early Bird Dinner will be on November 7th, so start thinking about paying your dues.  We need your help!!!  Thank you.

Shirley Reeves, 1st Vice Commander

2nd Vice Commander's Report -

August is behind us with its good and some sad things. Thanks to all of the volunteers. Without you we wouldn’t be able to help our membership and community.

Leila’s service went well and there was a lot of food for everyone.

One thing that’s been happening though: just because the Post OKs some kind of event doesn’t mean that the Post, or should I say 2 or 3 people, have to set up everything and then have to take it down. There is more to do than bringing food and taking food.

Sad to see Melinda leave us, but she got a salary offer that couldn’t be refused. Good for you girl and hope to still see you in the Post.

The music in the club is getting better and better. Come by Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday and sit for a while. If it’s too loud or if there’s something you would like to suggest, come let me know.

Come by and say hello to our new bartender, Maria. Since her recent arrival at the Post, she has volunteered for many things and now she is working for us on Friday and Saturday days.

We had a visit by 2 officers of the ABC on the 14th of August. Everything was in order. This is not an easy task, so if you notice something out of order, let me know so we can stay in compliance with the ABC.

Look out September 3! Our Past Pain-in-the-you-know-what – oops, I mean Commander – will be having a retirement party. Come down and join us; it’s our turn to get even with some words or at least to blow some dust off of him.

Bill Hicks, 2nd Vice Commander

1st Vice President's Report -

Everyone really needs to start sending in their dues for $15 for this new renewal term (7-1-09 through 6-30-10).  Juniors are $5 (under age 18).  Our new goal is 162 (down from 189).  We have a 50% goal to reach by October and we are nearing 35% now.  Rumor is that our per capita may be going up (most likely a sure thing) and that means instead of keeping $3 out of $15 (rest of it goes to Department), we may have to send them $15 to $17, so it behooves you to pay now instead of a few months from now.  After the National Convention, we will be notified of the per capita increase.  Our unit will have to discuss and decide how this will effect us if the dues go up $3-$5.  Even if we all have paid our $15, the unit would have to make up the difference for each member.  This isn't a done deal yet, but in the workings.  Our dues have stayed very low compared to other Auxiliary Units.

The Department has told me once again that your renewal notices will be going out to you by the end of August, so when you get your 2010 Renewal  Notice, please drop a check in the mail to me, or drop it off at the Post in a sealed envelope with my name on it.  I will get your card out to you with your Early Bird stamp on it.  Let's try real hard to make this a 100% goal unit.

Please show up at our monthly meetings, the first Tuesday of each month.  We need the support and your ideas.  Thank you.
