Attention members: This is the last reminder to pay your dues, so you can get in under the wire for your Early Bird Dinner. You must be paid by October 31, 2009.
And, as I like to remind you, your dues are what helps support your Post, our Veterans programs, and the Boy's State program.

Tuesday night music this month
(@6pm) will be provided by Jus' Friends. Last month Dana, Rosie, Maria & Terry
represented Post 416 at a bowling fundraiser for Operation Homefront. Cocktail
lounges from around the county participated in the event sponsored by Jim Beam,
but our post was the only veterans' group there. Our group didn't win any
prizes, but had a great time and were made to feel like VIPs just for showing
up. Huge thanks to all four for their efforts on our behalf. Three groups held parties at the Post
last month and all 3 went well. Even Terry's retirement party, which took months
to plan and years for Terry to get ready for. Thanks, Donna, for the fish tacos and
burgers dinner - even though it wasn't well attended. The San Dollars provided
music that night and they were great! The SALs had their elections last
month and they are back on line with a great bunch of officers. Don't forget this month's round table
on the 20th and the Auxiliary Golf Tournament on the 18th. Bill Hicks, 2nd Vice Commander Chaplain's Report -

From a financial standpoint, we continue to move forward. At a snails pace, but forward it is. 2 Birthdays are on the horizon. October 9th, Friday night, 6:30 PM we will hold a small celebration to honor the 234th Birthday of the U.S. Navy. Short program, with cake and grog to follow. In November, Friday night, I believe the 13th, we will honor all veterans, as well as the Marine Corps, as they celebrate their 234th Birthday. Again, short ceremony with cake and grog to follow. Halloween Fund Raiser
It’s that fun time again and we get to dress up so nobody will know us. The Auxiliary will be holding its annual Halloween Fund Raiser at the Post. This year it actually falls on Halloween, October 31st. Dress up in different categories (scary, funny, amorous, etc.) and we’ll try to figure out who you really are. Categories will be established by secret judges, when you get here at 6 pm to start the party.
Besides the costume contest, we plan a pumpkin picture drawing contest, musical entertainment, and raffle for yummy & intriguing baskets of goodies created by Auxiliary members. (Ladies, I need volunteers to put forth their best creative basket creations.)
Entertainment will be by Tate and friends, so come by and have some fun. Raffle winners will be announced throughout the evening of festivities. This will begin after the usual Saturday night dinner.
See you all there on our favorite ghoulish evening of the year! Remember that these activities are organized to support Veterans and those still in service, so please come out that evening.
Amy Moser, Auxiliary Social Chair

Bingo
Supporting our Veterans and their families, the Post Boys’ State Program and the Auxiliary Girls’ State Program… That’s what you’re doing when you come to Post and play Bingo on Monday nights.
Come on down and play!

Golf Tournament
I need you to start signing up soon, so I can have some idea as to how many are going to play. As you know, at this golf course, I have to pay up front. I hate to pay for more than sign up, so please help me out.
The Auxiliary uses this fund raiser to help with Girl's State and our Veterans programs. As you know, we have lots of them.
Also, I still need you to check with the places you frequent for Gift Certificates. Check with restaurants, barber shops, liquor stores, any establishment you frequently do business with; WE NEED YOUR HELP!
It is very hard for me or whomever is running the tournament to come up with 60+ gifts alone. It is every member's fund raiser, so one person should not be asked to do this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
FYI: We have a celebrity joining us this time. Darren Bennett (former NFL Football star with the San Diego Chargers (1995 - 2003) and the Minnesota Vikings (2004 - 2005)) and his son. Be sure to stop by and say HI! We want him to feel welcome. We also have our youngest Auxiliary member, Melody, joining us on the golf course.
