1ST Vice Commander's Report -
I’m still taking 2009-2010 dues. If you have many years in the American Legion, you can still get your dues paid and not lose your seniority. I want to Thank everyone that have sent in their dues, as you know this all goes toward our veterans programs. Speaking of veterans programs!! Stand Down will be coming us soon, and I will be collecting summer clothes in June. When getting out you summer clothes anything you can live without please bring to the Legion. They need to be clean. (Folded if possible) Thanks.
Just a little reminder. I really do want to Thank You for the cans and bottles you have been saving. But just a little reminder, in case I have some new bottlers. The lids must be off the bottles, it really helps me. Plus I can only use Juice, Water and Soda bottles. The rest get recycled somewhere else. Thanks Again
Shirley Reeves, 1st Vice Commander
2nd Vice Commander's Report -
We're finishing off a great month and another one is coming.
The country hoe-down was a fantastic success for the Post and the veterans of north county. I sure hope that everyone got to try Rosie's Greek Dinner because it was great. Our garden got cleaned up and replanted thanks to Cris, Redneck, and Melody. Remember we're all volunteers and if you have any time or ideas come on down.
I am in the process of getting an internet connection down here so we will have a faster and better means of communication.
Got some new things in the bar. Danny is working Monday nights and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday days. He is making some really good chili for hungry people on Fridays. Sometimes he even makes chicken vegetable noodle soup.
Our newest bartender, Kristin, is a long-time resident of this area and is working on Wednesday nights for us.
Some of the things going on in May will be a Cinco de Mayo party with margarita specials on the 5th and a free breakfast and rose to mothers on Mother's Day the 9th. A M*A*S*H* party and potluck at 6:30 on the 14th. Come dressed as your favorite character. (Don't forget the teddy bear if it's Radar.) We have some very talented musicians (husband and wife) playing music for donations on the 15th and a Memorial Day celebration on the 31st.
Come down and enjoy the Post.
I have accepted the position of Commander for next year and Kent Moser will be our new Second Vice Commander. So we're going to keep the momentum going forward to make this great post even better.
Bill Hicks, 2nd Vice Commander

Thank you goes to all of you that paid your 2010 dues. We did make our 100% goal, a little late over the deadline, but needless to say, the "Can Do" Auxiliary did it and that is what counts. I still need the following delinquent members to call me (858-481-9518) and let me know if you have decided not to renew so I can make some adjustments to our roster - Barbara Ashley, Donna Beaulieu, Isela Cowen, Jamie Crowley, Stacy Daniels, Frances Fitzgerald, Judy Gerstner, Laverne Jones, Betty Knutson, Alexandra Lawrence, Wendy Maslan, Theresa McCaffrey, Evie Prete-Gutierrez, Elizabeth Spittler, & Linda Trout. If you plan on continuing to be an Auxiliary member, you need to send in the $15, otherwise, when July/August 2010 gets here, you will have to send $30 to get the new 2011 card. The Department will not process the renewal without the expiring being paid up. Please think about it.
Since this "news tidbit" will be in this May newsletter, I just wanted to thank one of our Juniors, Miss Melody Sanderson, age 10, for what she did in April which was "Children & Youth" month. She had her beautiful hair cut off and donated to "Locks of Love". Her dad, Tate Sanderson, past Commander of the S.A.L.'s, followed suit and did the same. Thank you both for contributing to "Children & Youth" month.
Next Auxiliary meeting is May 4, 2010. Please try and attend at 7:00PM. Happy Mother's Day to all of you. Come in for breakfast by Mac and Bill on May 9th. You know it will be good. Don't miss it.

Bingo
This is not a threat...it's a FACT! Unless we get more bingo players on Monday nights, we will soon have to terminate the program. We cannot financially survive with 15 to 20 players. We have 400 plus Post members, plus Auxiliary and SAL members, and we can't get more than 22 participants??? Maybe you don't personally like Bingo, but surely you know someone (wife, neighbor, friend) whom you could encourage to attend.
For over 10 years the Post Bingo Program has been the most CONSTANT fund raiser this Post has ever had. You all get excited ad enthused over various monthly or yearly "Fund Raisers" that bring in an enormous amount of participants; let's try to get excited about "Your Bingo Program". It supports your Post and Auxiliary. Support YOUR Post...through BINGO!
