Commander's Comments -
First the Good news
Col. Kelly and the good guys will be at our post on Thursday evening, February the 28th, please make sure that if you are available that you make time to attend. This as this is our biggest fund raiser of the year and we only get one a year. We need your support! We will have food available, bingo being played in the back room and the bar will be open for business.
Secondly very important news
We have recently been having conflicts of interest between our post members and our club (bar) staff. We will be having a general meeting, (all members are invited to intend) on March the 12th, regarding these very important issues. Please keep in mind that every single vote matters and only those who attend will have their votes counted.
Thank you to all of you who have volunteered this month, we couldn't do it without you. Also thank you to all of you who are supporting me as the commander of this post.

I apologize for the lack of information about the post in this month's newsletter. I was too sick to attend the last post general membership meeting and therefore have no notes to share with you. Germs and God willing, that won't happen again. Thank you.

SAL NEWS
SAL Commander's Report -
The proposed election for a new SAL commander on February 12 never took place. This is due to the fact that our SAL members did not show up for their own organization's meeting. Outside of myself Dennis McGrory and Michael O'Connell no other SAL members found time to attend. The meeting was canceled as a result of such pitiful attendance.
Do the SAL's really have an organization and Post 416? Not from what I've seen lately. The SAL squadron ought to be more than just a drinking club! You may feel free to express your opinion about what I have said at the next SAL meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m..

President's Report -
We still have a few more months to go and we would like to see you at our meetings. Our current officers will be explaining a little bit about their duties so you can see if there is something you would like to run for at the end of our term. Any suggestions you may have for the coming months will be taken seriously by me.
Thanks to all you cooks for outstanding food. I would like you to write down your recipes and maybe we could get a cool cook book going. Brad might share his secrets, as well as all the rest of you. Thanks again!
Shirley Reeves deserves a big hand for her towel work and she and Bill Steinauer have done a great job with cans. As always, Louise is ever present to help in the kitchen.
We are only as good as our membership--let's support our vets and post.

Ladies, this is the Auxiliary’s month for Ways & Means and what that means is we are to come up with some ideas on how to make money. Our dinners will be great as always, but we could use a little entertainment to go along with them.
Donna is doing the corn beef & cabbage for St Pat’s day.
Mary Kirby & Jeanie say their Beef Stroganoff is to die for.
Roxene will be doing her stuffed Tomatoes, being brought back by popular demand, along with a bit of meatloaf on the side.
Nancy and Crew with be doing a Mexican night (call Nancy for more info). That could be a night of fun, anyone have any good old Mariachi music in their CD collection?
Shirley Reeves, 2nd Vice President
MISCELLANEOUS
BINGO:
NEW BINGO MENU
1st Monday Chicken Salad Sandwiches
2nd Monday BLT Sandwiches Choc. Sundaes
3rd Monday Egg Salad Sandwiches
4th Monday Tuna Sandwiches by Sondra
Why don't you skip dinner and have it with us on Bingo night. We will still have chili, hot dogs some kind of dessert and snacks and of course free coffee, as well as the above menu. Any suggestions? Just let Sondra or Merry Know. Thank you for supporting our Bingo Program!
When the “jackpot is up to $400 plus, 40 players show up; when it has been won on “57” numbers; the next week only 17 players. Thank you to our faithful and constant players. We’ll hang in there as long as we can! Of course, we would like to make the pay-offs larger; but we just don’t have the capacity to legally hold more than 75 players. Believe me, if 75 players showed up on a regular basis, the prizes would increase accordingly immediately.
So, tell your friends, if they want to support our veterans come and join us for bingo. With 400 Post members, it is a shame only one or two show up!!

District 22nd Historian:
Just want to give you heads up on things happing at our post you might be interested in. District 22 Commander has ask that they be invited to have their E-Board meeting at our post.
Also you might all come out for the General Membership meeting on March 12th as the District Commander will be making her 2nd and final visit of the year. (Please wear your covers).
Post 416 Auxiliary also invites you to come and join them at the Naturalization Ceremony March 19th, they like to see as many Post members as possible, with covers. The guest speaker will be the Department Commander, Howard Darter Jr.

GOLF CHAIRMAN:
Golfers check your schedule and get your clubs ready. Post 416 will be having their Annual Golf Tournament Sunday June 1st, 2008, at Lake San Marcos. Entry Fee will include Green Fees, Lunch, Drink Ticket, Tee Prizes, and Raffle Ticket at the American Legion all for $45.00. This does not include cart.
This year like all the others I am asking for the Entry Fee up front. No check no golf, I got stuck for the fees paid to the Golf Course. So you must fill out the paper work and attach a check or money order. We need all the players we can get so don’t sign up and not show, you will be taking someone else’s spot.
If you know anyone that might like to Sponsor a hole, please have them contact Kris
