Chaplain's Report -

We mourn the loss (7 May 2007) of Suzanne Moomaw, wife of long time member David Moomaw.  A gathering of friends will be held on Sunday, June 10th, between 12 Noon and 3 PM at the Encinitas Elks Lodge, 1393 Windsor Rd, Cardiff.  Our sincere sympathies to the Moomaw Family.

Your prayers are requested for the complete health recovery of the same members listed in your last newsletter.

Please pray also for the complete recovery of Mitch Bilodeau, son of long time member Ron Bilodeau who was recently shot in Vista by gang members attempting to steal his vehicle.  He is attempting to recover from possible paralysis of the lower body at Scripps, Encinitas Rehab Center, Room 155.  Even though few of you know him, you may want to stop by and wish him well as a friend of his dad.

Perry Comeau, Chaplain

Sunday Breakfast:

NOTE:  At the request of many of our Sunday breakfast patrons we have changed our serving hours.  Breakfast will now be served from 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m..  We feel this will allow our patrons to sleep in, go to Church, and generally enjoy a more leisurely Sunday.  If you have any ideas regarding how we may improve breakfast, please do not hesitate to talk to Duane, our new Second Vice Commander and chef extraordinaire.  Also, a huge thanks to Duane for offering up his Sundays over these months in order to make our breakfast the success that it is.  Also, thanks to Roxene for her graciously giving up all her Sundays to host our breakfasts.

SAL Meeting:

Our next SAL meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 12, at 6:00 p.m.  This will be a very important meeting as we will be discussing next year's budget, planning events, and taking a poll as to whether our SAL members wish to change our meeting time to one which may be more convenient for everyone and also permit those members to attend who at the present time cannot.

1st Vice President     Roxene McGrory;
2nd Vice President    Shirley Reeves;
Secretary                 Amy Moser;
Treasurer                 Louise Wetzell;

Executive Women    Opal Comeau & Helga Lampman.

Ladies, please remember our Installation & Dinner is June 2nd starting between 5:00 & 5:30 with Dinner at approximately 6:00.  If you have any questions, please call Merry or myself.

Again I want to thank everyone that stepped up to help me over the year. But don’t forget I’m now 2nd Vice, and back to my little blue book so please plan on stepping up to help again, not only to help me but our incoming president Merry.

She has been Chairman of so many Committees, that we now have to step up and take some of these away from her, since she again has taken on the Presidency. If you don’t feel you want to take on a chairmanship alone, get your friend to take it on with you, or we can always help you with a co-chair.

Shirley Reeves, President

1st Vice President's Report -

Thanks to all of you that paid their dues for 2006-2007.  There are still some of you holding back.   Dues will be payable again 8/1/07 and the renewal cards should arrive at the end of July.  They are due upon receipt, not 8 months later. We need to hit 100% goal (paid members) by 12/1/07.  New members will be $20 (their first year) and renewals will be $15 as usual.  Our next meeting will be August 7 at 7pm.  Merry Culhane as our incoming President would love to have many of you show up for her first meeting.  Please come and support her.   Also, mark your calendar for June 23rd- I will be cooking Italian Manicotti/stuffed shells for dinner (we haven't had it in a long, long time). We still need volunteers to cook and serve dinner.  Step up and get your name down.  It is fun and even more fun when you have some help.  Thank you and looking forward to a prosperous and exciting Auxiliary year.

Roxene McGrory, 1st Vice and Membership

Golf Tournament:

ATTN: GOLFERS... If you signed up for the Golf Tourney, please fill out the form below the sign-up board, attach your $45.00 check and put it in one of my three boxes at the Legion.  We need 60 players, and it helps to give the golf course a little advance notice if we are going to have less or more.  So if you could get your checks in ASAP we can give the golf course its up front monies, and have some idea how many we have by then. They like the deposit few days in advance.

Bob Wilson & Shirley Reeves

BINGO:

Support your post by supporting bingo.  We need more players Having 25 to 30 players just doesn't cut it.  Shirley and I are getting fed up with begging for more players all the time.  If anyone would like to take this program over, please contact Perry 760-753-4839 and I'll be more than happy to teach him or her all aspects of the bingo program.  There is more to it than meets the eye.
