Commander's Comments -
First and foremost, after many years of respectful service to this post Dennis McGrory (Mac) is standing down from his current position of First Vice Commander.
Mac has agreed to help anyone who would like to step into his position.
The 2nd Tuesday of February there will be a voice vote for a new commander of the SALs, Chad Hobbs.
If anyone cares to run for this position, show up at the meeting. At least show up and vote.
Thank you Pete for donating your time and equipment to shampoo the carpets. Also thanks to Jenna, Linde & Julie for doing our house cleaning. And thanks to all of our cooks and kitchen help, Mac, Dwayne, Donna, Nancy, Mary, Mary, Dave and Julie.
Saturday February 9th Kent and Amy Moser will host our Mardi Gras party with a prime rib dinner followed by Karaoke by Char & Michele. We will have three other great Saturday night dinners in February. See your calendar in the Post Dispatch.

Chaplain's Report -
We mourn the loss of long-time member Tom Sacco. Tom was the step-father to Roxene McGrory and Rhonda McKenny; also step-father in-law to Past Commander Dennis “Mac” McGrory; and dear friend to many. A memorial service was held at the Post on 13 January. Our sincere sympathies are extended to his family and friends. He was one of the finest gentlemen I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.
Happy to report that Claudia Kennedy, wife of Past Commander Joe Kennedy is at home and recuperating from recent surgery. We wish her a speedy and complete recovery. If you know or hear of anyone in the Legion Family who is hospitalized or has passed away, please call me immediately at (760) 753-4839.

Adjutant's Report -
As reported at the last general membership meeting in January, the post has 294 members. Our first vice commander also announced his resignation and this position will need to be filled. Out of 294 members perhaps one of you might be interested in taking the job.
The post dispatch (newsletter) costs the post money to print, published, and send out to members. There was some discussion at the General meeting about accepting business card sized announcements from post-members which offer their professional services. This issue will be further discussed at the next executive board meeting on the first Wednesday of February at 6 PM. The idea of course is to help defray the costs of the newsletter. This issue is still undecided.
Members are reminded that they are encouraged to attend the general membership meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m... This is where the decisions that effect and guide the posts are made. It is the perfect place for post-members to give their input.

SAL Commander's Report -
The SAL’s are going to have a voice vote for a new commander at their next meeting on Tuesday, February 12, at 6 p.m. SAL members are invited to come and participate and vote for their new commander. I have withdrawn as the SAL commander and Chad Hobbs is to be voted in on the above date. I'm still going to be active in the SAL’s in the capacity of a SAL member. My aim is to assist the SAL leadership in establishing a working set of bylaws and rules which will help clarify organizational procedures for the group in the future.
My decision to hand over the SAL command is based upon my believe that the SAL’s need to be directly involved in their own organization without outside help. I encourage SAL members to become more active in the group they have joined. It is after all your organization and it will work only as well as you help it to do so.

AUXILIARY NEWS
President's Report -
I
want to thank
everyone who contributed to Tom Sacco's Memorial. The donations of food were
great. It was a sorry time but we sent him off in good spirits and Perry Comeau
did a great service.
February is Mardi Gras Month and be sure to attend our party on Saturday
February 9. Kent Moser is doing Prime Rib and the trimmings for $10.00. It's a
fund raiser for the Post. A parade, prizes and surprises are all on board.
There will be Karaoke music with Char in charge. What fun.
On the 26 of February we will have live music by Mike
Burns and friends and food by Julie.
February is Americanism month so let's wear our red, white and blue and
advertise who we are and that we are good Americans by supporting our veterans
and getting involved in what makes this country great.
As usual we could use more volunteers to clean up things
and cook occasionally.
I want to thank all the gals who cook for the auxiliary and do Bingo. It takes
us all to keep this place running smoothly. See you at our next meeting on
February 5.
I am in the process of updating the mailing address records for all Post Members. Please send any changes in address to my attention, or drop them off at the club.

We still have a goal to meet and can't meet it unless you pay the dues and to those paid members, you can recruit a new member anytime. Remember, two of our most important Auxiliary programs -"Community Service" and "VA&R" (helping our Veterans) is what the "Can Do" Post 416 is all about.
My husband Mac, and Rhonda and Ed want to thank all of you that brought in food (and helped clean-up) for the Memorial Service for my dad, Tom Sacco this past Jan. 13th. It was an outpouring of love to us and his family that we all will never forget. Thank you again and a huge thank you to our Chaplain, Perry. What a "memorial" to Tom. It was a day I will never forget.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY (BE KIND TO YOUR LOVED ONES)
