Commander's Comments -

The glory again goes to our ladies auxiliary group for bringing in people and money for the post. The bazaar was a success which made our bar a success! Also credit has to go to Kent Moser for a sell out dinner, which he donated.

Thanks to Don Gilbert for donating the salmon and cooking it for our "early bird dinner"! Also thanks to all the people who volunteered for veterans day, USMC Birthday, & dinners by Connielou, Chris-Gary, Mick, Roxene, Kim, Boston John, Brad & our breakfast help, Mac, Dwayne, Tate and anyone I've forgotten.

Looking ahead:

Saturday December 1st: No Saturday night dinner because of the Encinitas Christmas Parade. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, & hot chocolate outside for anybody, but unfortunately we will have none of our regular parking places.

Our annual Christmas Party will be on Saturday December 22nd, at this time we are planning a potluck dinner and will need people to sign up, and let us know what you will be bringing.

Thanks to Perry & Lowell for a fine tribute to Al Crane.

Happy Holidays

Bob Wilson, Commander

SAL 1st Vice Commander's Report -

A reminder to all, “The value of your membership in the Sons of the American Legion is what you put into it.” That completely controls what value you get out of your membership.  Come down; meet your fellow Sons of the American Legion.  Let your voice be heard.  Stand up and be counted and put real value, not just monetary value, to your membership in the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 416.  The true value in your membership with the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 416 is…well come down to the Post, get involved and find out for yourself.

Happy Holidays!!!

AUXILIARY NEWS

President's Report -

Well ladies, we did it again. Our Bazaar was a success thanks to all of you who spent many hours pricing, baking and spending money. Every year your enthusiasm amazes me. This year we did a little over $1000.00 and I am so proud of all of you. Bill Steinauer and his truck hauled all of the stored stuff at our storage shed. Jenna brought us doughnuts and we had a few drinks donated our way. Encarnita was very patient going through the jewelry and Reyana and Helga handled the money.
Cris, Geri, Dolly, My neighbor Mary, Opal and Sondra sorting cookies made our days great for our vets & Post. Of course Kate, Louise and Amy were working the party and shopping. I believe Shirley had her truck full----as usual. Thank you all!!
Kent's burgers were a hit.
Our raffles will help the vets at the Home in Chula Vista and help with the purchase of our new flag. Wow, what a month.
Saturday, Dec 22 at 3:30 PM we will have our annual Aux. Party. We'll have a short meeting first in case there is any business and then our gift exchange ($15.00).
There will be a Pot Luck following our party with the Post. Bring your favorite dish.
Next meeting will be January 8 at 7.00 PM. Please try to attend and we'll start the New Year with a bang.

Remember our garden...If you have a few minutes please pull a weed or water. Thanks!!

I want to thank all the bakers from our town for the great things they donated. We actually sold out. We all went a little sugar crazy------Thank you Louise for helping with our serving during the hectic days of the Bazaar. If I forgot anyone PLEASE know it wasn't intentional!

1st Vice President's Report -

Please remember, instead of bathrobes this year for our injured "Warriors" down at Balboa Hospital, we have been asked to supply WHITE BATH TOWELS -- Not bath sheets, but just a simple bath towel (plain).  We need over 100 this year as there are over 125 plus wounded at the hospital including two other facilities.   We will need them by the first week of December, so please start bringing them in.  They don't need to be Xmas wrapped, just put in a bag so they stay clean since they are white.  This is a simple request from these warriors.   Please let's accommodate them with this request, they don't ask for much.

2nd Vice President's Report -

Well, as you all know by now it is not our month to dinners.  But never the less you need to support the Post month.  Plus we have the Holiday Parade at which time the SAL's will be having their BBQ.

On the 22nd is the Christmas Party for the Auxiliary @ 3:00pm followed by a Pot Luck put on by the Post with the help of the Auxiliary.

And of course last but not least.  I want the Thank all the members that stepped up to help.  We need as much of that type coordination as possible, that’s what makes it work.  Not just the same old people all the time working and the rest hanging out in the club.

We had lots of help for Merry's Bazaar, which was very nice to see.  Amy's party went well, could have used a few more to step up and help.

Never the less I want to Thank Everyone, we did a great job.

Shirley Reeves, 2nd Vice President

MISCELLANEOUS

TV Information:

While you are hanging around watching Football on Sunday afternoon or Monday evening on our new TV, you might want to remember that it’s not quite paid for.  So maybe someone that likes to watch the football games can come up with a FUND RAISER that will help gets us over the hump.  It was interest free until the 1st of March 2008, so we have to start thinking of some way to pay for it.

Thanks Again

Shirley Reeves, 2nd Vice Auxiliary & TV Co-Chairman

BINGO:

The Post Bingo Program will resume MONDAY, 7 Jan. 08.  THE PROGRAM IS COMPLETELY RE-VAMPED AND WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR SUPPORT ... OR GOODBYE BINGO.

Perry Comeau & Shirley Reeves

Re-Cycling:

I again want to thank everyone that is helping me re-cycle.  BUT, Someone is not getting the message. I’m still getting a lot of bottles that I am not able to re-cycle. Water and soda bottles are all that re-cycle (no juice or beer bottles).  Also please take the lids off the bottles. You are doing a great job with the cans, there again all I want is beer and soda cans ONLY.

THANKS AGAIN

Shirley Reeves, Re-cycling Queen
