Commander's Comments -
New rules have been enacted by a vote of the general membership meeting held July 11th. Basically, members will now be required to show their card (you earned it and should be proud to show it) when requesting service in the club area. All guests will be required to be signed in by a member. This requirement takes effect August 1st. All officers will also be required to show their cards.
Please attend the September membership meeting at which time it is anticipated that a vote will taken to confirm the nomination of Joe Farrell as our Club Chairman.
Don't forget our Thursday three-ball pool tournament. It starts at 7:30 p.m., and we have experienced a great turnout for this event.
Thanks to all of our volunteers and bartenders who keep our Post in great shape and things running.
Bob Wilson, Commander
1ST Vice Commander's Report -
It is my pleasure and honor to assist our long time member and stalwart of this Post, Bill Wetzell (or as we affectionately know him - WWW) this year. As you might know, Bill is a little under the weather right now, and it is my pleasure to attempt to carry on the tradition which Bill has established these past years as 1st Vice (most of us in the Post have lost count of the number of times Bill has been 1st Vice - not to mention Commander). I’m confident that we will continue the tradition of WWW in posting a 100% achievement for meeting our quota. Bill has never let us down. It is our duty to support him.
Right now, renewals are ahead of schedule. This is a gentle reminder for all of our Post members to renew early - take advantage of the upcoming Early Bird renewal - free dinner on our Early Bird Saturday night dinner which is to be announced. Believe me, it would be appreciated.
The renewal cards will be in the mail shortly.
A special thanks to Bill Clements for his work on removing the weeds from the sidewalk in front of the Post.
More special thanks to Jerry Hinsch for his donation to our Sunday breakfasts. Sorry, Jerry, I know you requested that you remain anonymous - but life isn’t fair.
Special thanks to Roxene McGrory for her substantial donation for a recent June Saturday night dinner.
As it always happens, there are individuals who are not mentioned in this newsletter regarding their donations of time, effort and money to our Post. I will try to mention everyone in the future. This is what makes our Post so great. Please, become part of the pleasure and satisfaction in assisting your Post.
Special thanks to WWW for again ensuring that we once again have a 100% membership banner on our Post flag for 2006-2007. You did again, WWW.
DO YOU KNOW THAT POST, AUXILIARY AND SAL all made 100% membership quotas this past year. Now, my friends, that is progress, and something we can all be proud of.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Your bartenders have been instructed to request Membership Cards from all patrons. This has nothing to do with the bartenders - it is at the direction of at the direction of the General membership . Please respect the bartender’s request. If you have any questions regarding this policy please contact your Post Officers. This rule is effective August 1, 2007.

Please pray for peace throughout the world that shall have no end. Pray for the safety of our troops and their safe return to their families. Pray for the healing and comfort of all members who are suffering mental and physical disability. Finally, for those P.O.W.s and M.I.A.s still missing from all the great conflicts.

SAL Commander's Report -
I apologize! Any inconvenience caused by my dropping the ball on contacting the repair persons) for the stove is regrettable. The Post Commander directed me to initiate the repairs and I did not follow up on it for a week. Once again, I am sorry. This information was posted @ 3:25 PM, Monday, July 16, 2007.
Greg Phillips, Commander
SAL Adjutant's Report -
Commander Greg called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. on July 10. A quorum was present. Commander Greg reported on the SAL’s project for the year - adopting the Warrior Foundation. The Warrior Foundation is comprised of individuals who are involved with our wounded active duty warriors (women and men) who are now housed at Balboa Naval Hospital recovering from their drastic wounds received while fighting in Iraq. Some of these individuals were transported from Germany by our own Post Member, Lt. Col. Karen Bradley (USAF). Any SAL member who wishes to learn more or become involved please contact Commander Greg, Adjutant Mac, or any other SAL officer. We have great plans in store to help these Veterans in the coming months. This is why we belong to the SAL Squadron. Become concerned and become involved.
Second Vice Dwayne reported on the continuing success of our Sunday breakfasts. He also noted, with thanks, the decision of the Auxiliary and Post to cook on one Sunday each month and give the SAL Squadron a break. The SAL Squadron will also continue to cook one Saturday dinner each evening. Look for our listing in the Post newsletter.
Thanks to all who attended this meeting. The turnout was greatly appreciated. We probably set a new record for attendees. This shows the importance of our SAL Squadron in Post 416, and acknowledgment of the work the SAL Squadron has expended this past year.
The renewals for SAL are ahead of schedule. For those SAL members who have not yet renewed - don’t hesitate. If you have any questions contact Mac.
Your SAL Squadron is doing great, and we are committed to carrying on the tradition of service to our Country and the American Legion. If any Post or Auxiliary member has any suggestions we are always open to them.
Our continuing thanks to Commander Greg and 1st Vice Dwayne for their time and effort in making our SAL Squadron so special.
Thanks to our SAL Squadron 1st Vice, Phil Qualdieri and his wife, Ruth, for their recent Saturday night dinner.
More thanks to Jim Crowley for his continuing donations of pennies to the SAL Squadron. Yes, Jim, the hernia is almost healed. Anyone wishing to donate their pennies - please see any SAL Squadron officer.
Thanks to everyone for ensuring that our SAL Squadron made 100% this year. It’s our first banner for our SAL Squadron flag. More to come.
Dennis McGrory, Adjutant
AUXILIARY NEWS
President's Report -
I feel we have accomplished much in a short time. Our 4th of July Community effort was special. The kids really turned out for the Bicycle decorating contest. Thanks to Connielou, Chuck and granddaughter, Encarnita, Helga, Shirley, and Reyana we even made the front page of a local newspaper. Our Post party was fun and Redneck and crew really stood out as well as the flag retirement crew. Louise, Perry and the MIA Ceremony was special as well. Our Roundtable meeting brought out a few good ideas even though attendance was a little disappointing.
We washed about 25 loads of clothes for the STAND DOWN and Shirley worked so hard to get them all delivered to the homeless and those less fortunate. The Parrot Party was fun and we made several hundred dollars for Girls' State. Thank you Donna and Crew. Our dinners and breakfasts have been fun. (Even though we had to do a couple of them without a working stove.) Thanks to Bingo crew and snack bar workers. Sondra is doing a good job taking over for me. The MYSTERY party is coming up so please try to support it. It will be something different and lot of fun. I want to thank my neighbor Mary Yakel, and Encarnita for helping with my dinner and John, Terry and Mac for dishes. WHEW! I told you it was a busy time.
Pray for our troops in harms way!!

I want to Thank Donna for her efforts in putting on the Parrott Head party.
Also all the members that came to the Round Table meeting, would liked to had a few more members take an interest. But those that came had a few good ideas.
July was the Auxiliary's month for dinners so I want to Thank all of my Chef's and helpers Also now that we no longer have a dish washer I want to thank everyone that steps in to help. Most of time without even being ask.
Members that can't cook and feel you would like to help now and than, we can always use someone to help with the dishes.
Thanks Again for all your support
LADIES WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A WEDNESDAY'S LADIES NIGHT OUT 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We are starting out with Coffee and your favorite goodies added. This will be the drink of the evening. If you have a better suggestion what you would like to have, please give Donna the heads up. We will also be having a few goodies to go with our Coffee. Might even have one of our favorite wine's on special.
More information coming. Check with ideas in the Club room..
